The 50th Birthday celebrations have started in Melbourne, with the start of the celebrations set for Saturday with a 50th anniversary celebration at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The Victorian Government will host a 50-year anniversary dinner for the AFL and Commonwealth Games, starting with a dinner at the MCG.
“We will be celebrating 50 years of the Victorian Government,” Premier Daniel Andrews said on Monday.
“It is about making sure that we give back to our community.”
The Victorian government also will host an all-ages entertainment and dance event at the venue.
“The event will bring together people of all ages, including children, and the Victorian government will welcome everyone to enjoy the festivities,” Mr Andrews said.
The 50th Anniversary dinner will feature live music and entertainment by the ABC’s DJ, DJ Zebra, while the Commonwealth Games celebration will also feature live entertainment and entertainment.
“This will be a great opportunity for the Commonwealth Government and the AFL to celebrate the contribution they have made to our state,” Mr Peters said.
“As the Commonwealth continues to grow and grow, so will our city, and so will we.”
The Commonwealth Games will also kick off at Melbourne’s Commonwealth Stadium, which will host its own 50th Year anniversary celebrations on Thursday.
